Pegasus News campaign survey (April 2, 2007)
What is the one greatest thing that the Richardson City Council has achieved in the past year?
One shining accomplishment during the past year has been the continued rebirth of the economic community in the City of Richardson with the major highlight being the securing of the new Blue Shield and Blue Cross of Texas headquarters campus. This project won the Dallas Business Journal’s prestigious overall ’Best Real Estate Deal’ of 2006.
What is the single biggest improvement that the Richardson City Council needs?
The single most important improvement Richardson needs is to completely revitalize its aging infrastructure, primarily in the streets and drainage systems. Much of the infrastructure in the 50-to-60 year old age range and is sorely in need of replacement.
What is the toughest problem that you have ever solved?
I am assuming that you mean the toughest problem solved in public service, which is relevant here. It would be one of the latest problems that the City has encountered: the development of an ordinance regulating sexual oriented businesses in the City and communicating to the residential and business communities on the development of and rationale behind the reasoning. I believe that we have drafted an ordinance that will protect the City from sexual oriented businesses through stringent operating and licensing requirements.
If you are elected and can only achieve ONE quantifiable thing in your term, what would you want it to be?
The one thing I would want to achieve during my next term is the replacement of one-third of the aging streets and related drainage while developing firm plans for the remaining two-thirds. The revitalization of our infrastructure is critical to the future generations of citizens.
