Pegasus News campaign survey (April 1, 2007)
What is the one greatest thing that the Denton ISD Board of Trustees has achieved in the past year?
While I am currently not on the Denton School Board, the opening of the LaGrone Career and Technology Center was a tremendous addition the facilities and instructional capabilities of our school district.
What is the single biggest improvement that the Denton ISD Board of Trustees needs?
It is my opinion that adding new trustees with fresh vision and varied points of view would invigorate the board as it faces the challenges of improving student’s educational options in the face of rapid growth.
What is the toughest problem that you have ever solved?
The daily struggle to maintain a thriving medical practice in the face of decreasing reimbursements insurance companies at the same time patient expectations couldn’t be higher. This is the same problem school districts face with unfunded mandates from the State for testing and health screening with reduction or freezing of funding for text books and transportation needs.
If you are elected and can only achieve ONE quantifiable thing in your term, what would you want it to be?
Our district is rapidly growing and, like so many others in North Texas, will be asking the voters to approve new bonds for new buildings and renovation for existing facilities. Once the Bond committee makes it’s recommendation, my goal would be communicating the needs or our district to the public and successfully passing the bond requests in the November elections. The next task will be assuring that funds raised are spent judiciously for our district.
