Kayo Mullins says:
I have to wonder about Mr. Kaufman. I know Jill. Kotvis and I have found her very credible. I am voting for Ms. Kotvis. From his comments about her experience, I think he must be intentionally obtuse. It is apparent when one looks at her literature that she listed things that she had done - no where does it imply that she has done these things all at once or she is still serving on these boards. It is a lot like the answer to how do you eat an elephant - one bit at a time. She listed her massive experience of service to the community and yes it is overwhelming because it is so extensive. I see no facts in Mr. Kaufman’s post, just bald faced allegations. If Mr. Kaufman knows of corporate polluters he should have named them. I suspect he does not, because there are none. I did not participate in the ROTC program in my youth but I understand it is about leadership. What is his complaint about this? Do we not want trained leaders? Perhaps Mr. Kaufman is not old enough to remember when Business ran the City of Dallas and the King Makers of the CCA choose our council. It is often through neighborhood associations that we now grow our council. Who knows us better than our neighbors, unless it is our professional colleagues? Ms. Kotvis neighbors have chosen her to lead them. The lawyers when polled by Texas Monthly have named her a Super Lawyer. Martindale Hubble has rated her AV. For over 100 years, there as been no higher rating for an attorney than AV. At this time when Dallas is facing such large environmental problems such as Air Pollution and the Trinity River, to name two, we need a person who can do the back breaking research like a lawyer and who can and understand the mountain of federal regulations which control these issues. We need Jill Kotvis. I have to wonder about Mr. Kaufman. I know Jill. Kotvis and I have found her very credible. I am voting for Ms. Kotvis.

Maggie's comment was removed because it contained some unsubstantiated (to us) allegations about Jill Kotvis. We are investigating and if we find that they have merit, we'll reinstate the comment and cover them in a story.
Meantime, we will encourage Maggie to provide us with evidence.

Michael Davis says:
Jill Kotvis gets my endorsement for the District 9 seat.
Jill's experience as an environmental lawyer will serve us well as we sort through the Trinity mess. She also has a lot of the right answers when it comes to SOBs and southern Dallas.
She faces a heck of a battle from Sheffie Kadane, who looks like Gary Griffith's pick for that seat.

Maggie says:
Jill Kotvis. She is not good for Dallas City Council. She went into private practice because she was fired from two law firms, or at least let go or quit.....really fired but she may have been "asked to resign". This is the only reason she went into private practice. Also, she claims to be apart of all of theese clubs and organizations, but when you ask the members of these organizations, or committees, she joined and never showed up. These people on these committees don’t even know who she is. Support Kadane or Turner, but not her! She is not honest.

Sanders Kaufman says:
Wow! When I told my story about how Ms. Kotvis's campaign behaved deceptively, I didn't expect anyone would pay attention. But now, her staff and supporters are clearly demonstrating what I originally only slightly perceived - a rash of self-serving, bad character.
These non-denial denials of her bad acts demonstrate a weak kind of character that I don't like seeing in public officials. Openness and honesty would require that the issues at hand be addressed - rather than personal attacks against those who report on what she's done.

Mark Wilson says:
The actions of Mr Kadane's family in this smear campaign are just deplorable. The yarn that Issac Kadane reels is not only far fetched, but inconsistent. He says this “Maggie” person is a friend of his wife was in San Antonio for a young Republicans convention. Yet a scan of the Bexar County Young Republicans website shows no mention of a convention on or about April 18, 2007 – the date of the original slanderous post. In addition, this person refuses to divulge her true identity – this destroys her and Mr Kadane’s credibility. To attempt to deceive the public into thinking that the son of a political candidate would allow a friend the use of his email account to smear his father’s opponent is truly sad. Lying, cheating, slander… you make the call.
More importantly, Ms Kotvis did not in any way mislead the public regarding her DUI arrest. The infraction was and is a matter of public record and as an attorney, she knows that anyone has access to that information. Mr Kadane asking her to resign from the race is not only ridiculous but suggests that he is falling behind in the polls.
Mr Kadane, your shenanigans have been exposed and you should be ashamed of yourself. You, your son and whoever is playing the roll of the Maggie/Kelly person owe Ms Kotvis an apology.

Mark, actually there appears to have been a Young Republicans meetup on April 17, with the Kadanes as the heads:

Mark Wilson says:
Mike, Good enough. But still, the hidden identity of the person, the lies in the original post, and the account set up under Issac Kadane's email account still smack of a conspiracy from the Kadane camp.
