Pegasus News campaign survey (April 2, 2007)

What is the one greatest thing that the Euless City Council has achieved in the past year?
2006 was a very good year for Euless. We signed what was, at the time, the most lucrative Barnett Shale gas lease for a municipality. Construction began for the Shops at Vineyard Village providing over 400,000 square feet of retail space. Glade Parks mixed use development plans were announced with upscale housing as well as another 600,000 square feet of retail. Even with those spectacular accomplishments, one that stands out is the new Professional Turf Products building. Working in concert with the City Council, our Director of Development, Bill Ridgway, and Professional Turf Products, a sub-standard, unoccupied building supply store was beautifully remodeled bringing with it a very successful business. We are very proud to have Euless as the home of Professional Turf Products.

What is the single biggest improvement that the Euless City Council needs?
One of the major issues facing the Euless City Council is our aging housing. As a community, we need to find innovative sources of funding to revitalize and improve older neighborhoods.

What is the toughest problem that you have ever solved?
I have difficulty identifying a single tough problem. Solutions are always workable by taking Norman Vincent Peale’s approach: “When a problem comes along, study it until you are completely knowledgeable. Then find that weak spot, break the problem apart, and the rest will be easy.” And, as Voltaire said “No problem can stand the assault of sustained thinking.”

If you are elected and can only achieve ONE quantifiable thing in your term, what would you want it to be?
We are in dire need of a grocery store in the south part of Euless. I plan to work closely with our development staff to identify and attract a food market.
