Pegasus News campaign survey (March 25, 2007)
What is the one greatest thing that the Garland City Council has achieved in the past year?
In general, the economic growth for the City of Garland (e.g., opening of Bass Pro, etc.) was a significant achievement last year, as it has been for several years. With the Firewheel Town Center completed, and plans for other big economic projects ( e.g., downtown redevelopment) moving forward, all of this economic growth is a real positive achievement for the City Council.
What is the single biggest improvement that the Garland City Council needs?
A difficult question to answer, because after the 2006 elections, the council has worked well and in harmony. I simply do not believe there are any "biggest improvements" needed by the Garland City Council.
What is the toughest problem that you have ever solved?
I have no idea what the purpose of this question is. I have encountered "problems" when supporting troops as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. I have encountered "problems" during my 34 year career with the Social Security Administration. I have encountered "problems" planting my garden around my home. Life is full of problems. Let me just say in general, that I have dealt well with all problems I have encountered in my life, but (1) I don't know what the biggest one is, and (2) I see very little connection between this question and running for city council.
If you are elected and can only achieve ONE quantifiable thing in your term, what would you want it to be?
A Garland council person is but one of nine, so one person can achieve nothing. However, I plan to work closely with my colleagues to increase retail growth so that Garland (the 10th largest city in Texas) improves its retail sales (currently 32nd in Texas) so that we are in the top 25 by the end of 2008.
