Pegasus News campaign survey (April 2, 2007)
What is the one greatest thing that the Euless City Council has achieved in the past year?
I believe the greatest action taken by the council was when the Mayor, Councilmember Hogg and Mayor Pro Tem Martin stood together and refused to be forced into changing their stance on the City budget by the remaining three Councilmembers. They persevered throughout and with enormous public support influenced those three Councilmembers to reverse their vote which had put all of the city employees health and retirement benefits at risk.
What is the single biggest improvement that the Euless City Council needs?
The council needs all of the members to be visible and active in the community, not just Mayor Saleh, Mayor Pro Tem Martin and Councilmember Hogg.
To know what is needed by the citizens a councilperson must be out in the community, attend Town Hall meetings and other functions, not just Council meetings.
What is the toughest problem that you have ever solved?
During my years of managing large retail stores, I had replaced a manger that had been let go due to the turmoil that had resulted from his management practices. There was a great deal of favoritism, lack of accountability and poor morale. By working closely with the organization and rewarding effort and results, we were able to build a strong team that continued to grow and prosper. In less than one year the store became very profitable and turnover was reduced to normal levels.
If you are elected and can only achieve ONE quantifiable thing in your term, what would you want it to be?
I would like to see the construction of a new Senior Center designed and opened in the next three years.
