Grand opening red carpet gala: The Wendell Baker Story
Security blokes guard the "Wendell Baker International" trailer parked in front of the Inwood. This relic plays a key role in the film.
These girls showed up early (like, an hour and a HALF early) to make sure they'd be close enough to get a good view of Owen. Or vice-versa.
Seymour Cassel, with a tiny head of Luke Wilson growing out of his shoulder, almost like a cyst or something.
Trust me, it's only through accidental placement of the background that Seymour appears to be pulling the purse from this young lady's hand. Anyhow, that cop in the background would have nailed him for the crime, had he actually pulled it off.
Luke Wilson, who wrote and co-directed the film (along with his brother, Andrew, off to his right), actually appears to be giving thoughtful consideration to some media schlub's inane query.
Luke really seemed to enjoy talking to everyone. And the gal behind him seems to enjoy being behind him.
Luke Wilson, that vigilant cop again (the one who would have nailed Seymour, had he snatched the purse), and Michael Cain, artistic director of the AFI Dallas fest.
These fans are starting to emerge from their collective torpor (not unlike prodded tree sloths) because they've sensed the appearance of Owen - the blondest of the Wilson brothers.
Andrew has a great beard. Enjoy it while you can, Andy - in about 20 years you'll want to shave that thing off because it's adding ten years to your appearance. Trust me.
Luke breaks away from the fenced-off red carpet area (with that vigilant police officer hounding his every movement) and signs autographs for fans. What a nice guy!
Neon lights really add drama to Andrew's already-dramatic features. Might want to consider carrying some with him wherever he goes.
The three Wilson brothers stand by their movie poster. And so does this grinning cop, who's pretending to be part of the entourage even though he wasn't actually in the film.
Owen Wilson checks out the fancy vidcam rig sported by some local media outlet with more money on their hands than they know what to do with. Or maybe they just fired a print journalist to make up the difference.
In the movie, Owen plays the mean, mean head nurse of a retirement hotel where Wendell Baker (Luke Wilson) gets a job.
Owen Stood around talking for a while, so I kept snapping photos. Those three girls who were holding up signs should be thanking me for this.
Owen is thinking about how to respond to the nice lady from People Magazine, who had just asked him "what's your funniest word?" I kid you not.
I think the answer ended up being "Polyanna." Or that's what it sounded like, if I heard him correctly over those three girls in the background who kept yelling, "Owen, we're legal!" Yeah, right - like he'd care.
Owen allows as to how it's about time for the movie to start, so we'd all better head on into the theater.
