Taste of Addison 2008
As we walked in, we passed a giant truck of guacamole passing out free samples. Not a bad way to start the day.
The food from Go Fish lacked in presentation (obviously), but it was still pretty tasty.
One thing I noticed that was different from last year was that the booths seemed to have a lot more decoration.
And the winner for Best Decorated Booth goes to new-to-Addison Los Lupes for their excess of color and completely unsuggestive ear of corn.
The SPCA also had a presence with droopy eyed pups awaiting adoption. They were right by the kids tent too, those sneaky devils (but it was a good plan judging from the empty cages of adopted doggies).
In the Conference Center you could stand in line for 10 minutes to receive a free shot of wine. The "professionals" at the event got right back in line and savored their drop of wine as they waited for the next round.
And of course there were the obligatory celebrity chefs. This is Ted Allen, formerly of Bravo hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and now a regular guest judge on Top Chef.
Ted Allen showed the audience how to make some chicken concoction. Not only was it under seasoned and dry, the recipe they handed out actually called for 14 pounds chicken and only a 1/2 tsp of pepper. Seriously? What if you're cooking for four? What are you supposed to do with that, quarter the recipe?
I loved the recycling receptacles, although even though they were markedly different from the actual trash cans, I bet loads of people were still confused.
