5/5Excellent restaurant with a great selection and food that is fantastic. They have wine tastings periodically that are a terrific deal, and the night that I was there they also had a great entertainer/evening show. Not a bad deal for the money at all.
Try this place. It's a great find in the downtown area.

5/5I don't like giving Alessio's a 4 for Vibe, but it just isn't what you go there for. The Food. The gnocchi, pizza, pasta, the specials - are all superb. The calamari has to be some of the best in Dallas. And trust Alessio, he will guide you if you need help.

5/5Alessio's is one of our all-time favs in Dallas and my wife and I have been there 3 times since it opened.
It is in a very non-desript strip mall a block from Jimmy's Food Store -- from where they get many of their ingrediants and their sausage. With respect to the comment above re: 4/5 vibe: we give it the same, but only because you can only do so much in a strip mall room on a family-run business decorating budget. Keep your eye off the ceiling tile, listen to Sinatra and Minelli on the sound system, and pretend you are in a little bistro in rural Italy instead.
The food and the service is what this place is all about. Alessio greets with a warm smile and a pat on the back. There is one server in particular (his father is the chef), who is EXCELLENT, self-assuming and very helpful about all the dishes. The rest of the staff tries hard, but there is some inexperience so cut them some slack, OK?
Wines are reasonable and a good selection of Italian reds. We always get a Dolcetto that pairs well with all the food. The Scampi Madagascar is one of our favorite starters, as is the eggplant parmiagiana (a frequent blackboard special). My wife makes an awesome one and she raves about this one. Rissoto is also excellent, freshly made and never gummy or sticky or dry.
Fettuccine Genovese is a Secondi that we get every visit to share -- strips of chicken, mushrooms and sundried tomatoes with a creamy sauce -- delish! Also, they make a mean fish that is always cooked to perfection, whether a special or the trout with almonds. Two dishes that we want to try, because they looked so good at other tables, are the pork medallions and the the lamb chops.
I'm getting hungry writing this, and I wish we were not so busy tonight, or we would be there again. It's Alessio's first anniversary today, with a $35 prix fixe, and I'm sure it will be worth every cent!
