I love Thai food. I'm a lacto/ovo vegetarian, and the traditional cuisine has so many dishes I can enjoy w/o worry.

I would drive a fur piece for the food at Bangkok House. Fortunately, I don't have to because I live about 4 miles from this family-owned business, and have been going there for years.

When it first opened, the kindest thing one could say about the ambiance was that it was "quaint". To be blunt, it looked like what it probably used to be: a burger joint. Manager Ron and Chef Tiki have continually improved the furnishings, dishes, etc., and if you haven't been in the last couple of months, you need to go. It's quite charming.

The food has always been outstanding. The sheer number of menu items is impressive, and they are all (the veggie items I've tried anyway) delicious and attractively presented.

If you're the kind of person who likes some "distance" between you and the staff, you may find the truly family atmosphere a bit surprising. Ron--a tall, distinguished-looking gentleman is quietly friendly and keeps things running smoothly. Tiki (who--I have to admit--reminds me of "Bloody Mary" in the Rodgers and Hammerstein film "South Pacific") thinks nothing of coming out into the room and coming up to the table to see how much you're enjoying your meal.

Do yourself a favor and come on out to White Settlement for some of the best food you'll ever eat.
