In the year since I wrote my last review of this place, they've added a veggie and black bean patty to the menu. However, the service tonight just went another notch down.

Between the main server being slow to even acknowledge me sitting at a booth waiting for a menu and the other servers being so caught up in bar conversation they, too, were slow to respond, I already knew what this experience was going to be like. To sum up, the food was decent, but my server was barely cordial. I doubt I'll return after this. Too many other choices in the Cliff now serving similar or better food to go through that level of service again.

Found this place in D Magazine's Neighborhood edition and put it on my hit list. They honestly have the best burger and fries I have ever eaten. The meat was perfectly cooked and the bun was a ciabatta roll. We sat out on the patio and took in the Oak Cliff atmosphere along with a few glasses of wine. We ended up staying longer than planned just because we like the place. Our waitress was also very friendly. Can't think of one negative thing to say about this place other than I wish it was in my neighborhood so that I could eat there more often.

Old house revamped into a North Oak Cliff pub and grill with TV bar, dining tables, and overstuffed lounge chair area that includes reading materials, board games and stereo. Good food, full bar and some nice choices for vegetarians such as a California avocado melt type sandwich. Also kitchen will make any burger into a veggie burger. Crispy fries in either regular or sweet potato version--for $.50 extra and well worth it. Home made pizzas are generous. Parking can be a challenge. It's a nice low key atmoshphere. The friendly staff services both bar and tables, with usually a few regulars at bar. Nice alternative to neighborhood Mexican restaurants and Bishop Arts trendiness.

I've been twice. Had the pizza one time (which I thought was a bit expensive until I saw how big it was!) and the cheese sandwich the next. While both were tasty, the cook could've really laid off of some of that pesto (on both dishes!). Also, is it really too much to ask to add the choice of a garden burger on the menu? I mean, really people....

Then (during the second visit) I was invited back to hear a "jazz" band later that night. I thought, "Cool! Jazz music near my apartment!". HELL NO! Tell me, when did the word "jazz" become just a phrase for somebody playin' live?! Talk about blown expectations!

My verdict: It'll do if you're hungry.
