My experience here has been mixed.
The first time I came with friends and had a great, outstanding, juicy steak. Cooked medium well just like I like. So I figured that all the hype was for a reason and came a second time with my significant other. Unfortunately it just wasn't that good the second time. Both of our steaks were chewy, a little overdone, nothing special. For the price we were very disappointed.
We haven't been back since. The place is well loved, so maybe we were just there on an off night, but I think there are some more interesting places to try.
If you live in Dallas you should probably give it a try at least once.

After all the great recommendations and reviews that I read, I'd love to say I had a great experience at Bob's also, but unfortunately it wasn't.
First of all, the dining room is very crowded and noisy. I wouldn't recommended it if you want a nice relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly, but was nonexistent after she took our order. We had to continually ask other waitstaff to find her for us.
We both ordered the Prime "COTE de BOEUF" 20 oz Bone-in Ribeye Steak. For $40 we both expected an amazing steak. We ordered our steak rare, and while it was served rare, it was extremely gristly. So much that our knives wouldn't cut through them. We asked the waitress (once she was found) if she had sharper knives we could use. They didn't.
Dessert was OK; the Key lime pie was nothing special.
Overall, we were disappointed. We won't be going back.

My daughter opted to celebrate her birthday at Bob's. We had a excellent meal enjoyed with copious amounts of champagne.
Great evening.

ahh yes! The notorious, infamous Bob's Steak & Chop House. If you haven't already heard. Its the place where Tom hicks likes to take future players for the TX Rangers & Dallas Stars. Not to mention Dirk Nowitzki was Punked by Michael finley there.
After winning a bet I was treated to a dinner @ Bob's Steak & Chop house. I have to say for never have been there before, and hearing all the hype. My taste buds were salivating for a good steak!
From the moment I walked in the door the I was treated with great service. When it came time for the wine selection. their wine steward met us at the table and asked what we were having for dinner? after giving him a few details of what we would like. He was able to suggest wines that not only went with our dinner. But also what was best for our wallet!
After sitting there taking in the atmosphere of the dinning area while grazing on bread. It was time for dinner!
I ordered the NY Strip, my buddy the filet mignon. when the food arrived I was expecting a nice hearty portion of food. although I found it to be a little disapoiting. (I guess I believed in the hype) My dinner plate consisted of mashed potatos, one large glazed carrot (in the middle) and my strip on the side. the steak was cooked to perfection.. The glazed carrot was interesting, and the mashed potatos were mashed. That's IT! there was still room on the sides for checking my reflection on the plate ( I wouldn't want anyone to see that annoying speck of food on my chin)
in a nut shell: 1. A little over priced for what you get. 2. Don't go there thinking you will get full. unless you eat alot of bread 3. You might see the Mayor, or some other person you read & hear about. 4. Expect to vallet park. 5. dress code - business casual. ( however I noticed kids in shorts & T-shirts)
