West Fest Polka Festival Westfest kicks off the weekend Friday evening with the Miss Westfest Contest. Gates to the fairground (in West, Texas, south on I-35 just beyond Hillsboro) open at 5:30 p.m., and you can hang out touring the food booths until the 12:30 a.m. closing. Friends joined me for a birthday dinner and we all had a wonderful meal. The lobster and steaks were just right.
