This is a review of the Collin County Humane Society which appears to operate under the animal shelter. Beware if you adopt an animal from this organization - especially puppies! Ask them to provide you a copy of their adoption contract prior to making any decisions. Read every word carefully and make sure you can adhere to EVERY requirement! With puppies or kittens pay close attention to the Spay/Neuter clause. If you deviate from the contract at all, even with a written concern from your own vet, be prepared that they will harass you with phone calls, emails, threats to have a constable pick up your pet, fine you and sue you! Please do your research! We had a horrible experience!

I have adopted 2 puppies from CCHS and they were VERY clear about their Spay/Neuter policies before I adopted my puppy. The communication was great and I had zero problems. They helped my family find the best match for our needs and when we were having training issues they connected us w/ a trainer for free! CCHS is an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers. Highly recommend them.

I adopted my Roxie from Collin County Humane Society in June 2010. The foster mom explained the contract to me clearly. All the follow up vet appointments were discussed, and even their vet was wonderful! We love our Roxie, and when we are ready to add another puppy in our lives, we will be adopting from Collin County Humane!

I tried to adopt from CCHS a while back. I waited for over 2months for a reply on my application to only be told when I called them back for the umpteenth time that my application was Denied. The lady I spoke with was very rude and would not tell me on what grounds I was denied, all she said was "We just don't think you are a right fit for an animal at this time." and "that I should accept that things happen for a reason!" Overall I commend them on what they are trying to do, but their follow up will lead to a lot of other adopters finding suitable animals elsewhere!

I rescued two cats who.have turned out to be super sick.with URIs. I called the next day to let them know my cats were sick, and I.spent over $160 at the vet (not even having them 24 hours) and no.offer to.help. I know a lot of shelters have a one-two week.policy on helping with vet bills if you get them home and they're sick. I'm super upset and love my new cats so.much, but will make sure anyone who goes there to make sure the cats don't sneeze. Spend a lot of time with them before rescuing. :( not satisfied at all with the shelter.

I'm glad they harrass people who dont adhere to the spay neuter policy. There should be huge fines for peope who fail to do it. I would even like to see penalties for anyone caught letting an unspayed or unneutered cat or dog go outdoors for any amount of time. The Ferrell cat popation is out of control because careless idiots think it is ok to let a cat roam the streets without being fixed!! People do this with dogs, too, but dogs are easier to catch and get control of, fortunately.

The shelter animals are frequently affected by some kind of condition, i.e., parasites, kennel cough, fleas, it is important to be prepared and know what to look for. These animals still make wonderful pets, like the person said. I'm so sorry that happened. But koodos to you for being a good pet owner and not throwing in the towel. We need more folks like you out there!! Hope your Kitties are doing well.
