ok. Yes, they changed the menu. I also was there on the first day of the changed. I'll never forget it. Dec 12th. It was the day after my birthday and I had a terrible hangover. Despite the change, Coopies is still a great restaurant. The service was friendly and no-fuss. The real Mac and cheese must come back. No self respecting southerner would accept penne and powder cheese. I realize we are in a recession, but stick to the basics and you'll be fine! I ordered the skillet corn bread and it was right on the money. I think i ate the entire thing by myself. The fried chicken was meaty and flavorful. I will go back to Coopies. I hope you guys can get the issues taken care of and stay open for good!

Dear Allibunt1987:

I'm truly sorry for the disappointment--the day we changed out the menu was clearly not our best day, and I know we let you down. The good news is that new menu is now in, and we're good at it, and we still have more new ideas we're working on. I'm glad you had loved our food before, and I promise, we are just as committed to ensuring you love the new food. A LOT of the menu is exactly the same, and the new items are getting great reviews from regulars. I believe that another one of my partners has also been in touch with you directly, but I wanted to follow-up on this forum to ensure that you, and other readers, know that we listen, and we care. Regarding the wait list, and how we seat guests, what I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, is that race has nothing to do with it. We strive to employee fair and caring people, and our company culture is absolutely fair, caring and inclusive.

Warm Regards, and Happy 2009!

I have been eating at Cooppie's for a few months now. I enjoyed the food, and even started getting the pot roast meal togo once or twice a week for about a month and a half recently. However, I am not going to do that anymore. My last visit to Cooppies was awful. I came on the day that they changed there menu. I was upset because since I had been ordering the pot roast meal to go lately, you would think that they would have warned me about how they are getting a new menu and will only serve pot roast on Tuesdays instead of every day. Also the macaroni and cheese used to be one of my favorties. But they completely changed it! The old version was definitely homemade. It was made with huge elbow macaroni noodles, and real cheese. The new one uses penne and a cheese sauce. It disgusted me! Also I used to love the fresh rolls that they would bring out before your meal, even though they would only bring one per person. As if that wasn't stingy enough, now they don't bring you a roll at all! A nice plain salad with crsip leaves, croutons, cheese, and a wonderful southern dressing used to come with the meal as well. Now they want to charge about $1.50 for it. To make matters worse, I came that day with my boyfriend and daughter, and put our name on the waiting list. There were some people who came after us and also put their name on the list (a party of 6). They got called to their table before we did. The people even told them that we came first and they sat them anyway. I don't know if it was just a common mistake or if it was because we are black. I just know I am not pleased with Cooppies anymore.

I'd like to extend a welcome to rhuemmer, who joined the Pegasus News community to post a comment about Cooppie's, and hope that she/he will continue to offer feedback on other restaurants, as well as stories, events, and all the many things a person can find to comment on here.

Also wanted to thank Dan @ Cooppie's for his response. The ability to hear feedback, positive or negative, is the sign of a smart restaurateur; we appreciate hearing from restaurant owners as well as restaurant patrons.

As one of the Partners at Cooppie's, I think everyone deserves to know that within minutes of receiving an email from RHuemmer I sent her a detailed response taking full responsibility for our mistakes at the restaurant, and telling her how sorry I was. I invited her and her family back to the restaurant, at my expense, so that we could show her how great Cooppie's can be! As restaurant owners, we know full well that at times we can make mistakes and drop the ball with food and service--but that doesn't mean the whole restaurant is bad, it just means we're human, and we blew it during that visit, and we need to focus on fixing our mistakes and diligently caring for all our guests. We love feedback, positive or negative, and take it all to heart with a serious focus on improving our weaknesses and getting better every day. At Cooppie's, we have hundreds of guests everyday who love the restaurant--and we want and need MORE guests, and I realize that when people have bad experiences, it is their right to not come back to the restaurant, and to share their experience with others if they choose. But when the business owners want to say sorry, want to make it right, and are involved in the details of the business, I know that most people appreciate that and give us the chance. I am hopeful that all of the Pegasus News readers will understand there's two sides (or more) to every story, and that at Cooppie's, we care, we take responsibility, and we are real people.

I could not rate the food because after being there for a full hour, we never received any. I had to at least give it a #1 instead of a zero. We did not like that the small OJ is larger than the large OJ. We also didn't like that the waitresses stood around and didn't seem to have more than two tables. Many other guests seemed to have the same problem in the restaurant. We had to flag down a waitress to take our drink order. We received our drinks about 15 minutes later. About 10 minutes after that, our waitress took our food order. It was the last time we would see her. As we were leaving, the staff up front thanked us for coming in. We will never know if they noticed that we left without getting our food. I guess we were a bit ungrateful for not enjoying the sugar packets they so generously provided.
