Oh no.
Parked the car, dodged the sidewalk. Considered crossing the street to Deep Ellum Cafe. Hindsight, my friend.
The space is empty save for a table of three or four day labourers. We are greeted by the hostess while she is on her cel phone.
The menu is fairly standard H,L+S / Aw Shucks fare with a few potential highlights thrown in. Domestic beers ordered and promptly neglected. Probably better that way.
Food passable for frozen fried organisms. Little interesting as far as biology or flavor goes.
Service borders on entertainment. Hostess doubles as waitress. Complains bitterly about having to clean tables. Interupts order to answer phone. Goes out on to street to continue rather animated conversation.
The fellow behind the bar brings us our plates and drinks, excuses hostess as "missing." He seems genuine. We feel some sympathy.
Hopefully he isn't permanently attached to the girl on the cel phone.
Perhaps when they part ways, the food won't be picking up on the negative vibes.
