Well at least they are keeping alive, amongst Deep Ellum's organized decay, not the best of Dallas Sushi joints. But a good spot for a quick bite, if you are not looking for a top end fish experience!

My experience tonight was nice for a change. The quality of the food is a little better then some places i.e. The shrimp tempura w/ veggies was smaller in portion. However, better selection of veggies. Deep Sushi has a your standard selection of rolls. The Philly, Asparagus, California, Avocado, etc.. Although they do mix things up with a wide arrange of unique rolls.

The service for a Thursday night was great. the waiter had in depth knowledge of sushi, and knew their product well. He even went as far as saying "if you see something you want that is not on the menu. Just give an idea, and the ingredients we will make it"
I highly suggest the Volcano w/ Scallops, and the Dragon Lady roll (if you like spicy mustard) and the New York rolls!

The overall quality of the sushi is good. The quantity of the roll orders range from 8-10 pieces. The price ranges from $5.00 to the most expensive is $15.00

Deep Sushi is on the pricey side. however, we did have:

4 orders of rolls

1 order of shrimp & veggie tempura

1 order of volcano w/ scallops (yummy)

2 iced tea's

grand total: $62.66

although pricey - it was a nice relaxing dinner with good service.

Park where you like, stuff the meter. Mind the gap has its' own meaning in Deep Ellum.

Seating at Deep Sushi varies from immeditate to moderate wait with the nadir sometime in the early / mid week.

Drinks meet with Kirin level approval. Servers fluctuate in attitude and accuracy in an inverse to the length of time it takes to be seated.

The space is moderately interesting and the patrons cut a more diverse cloth than perhaps you might expect at Reiku.

Sashimi and nigri are typical Dallas. The portions run somewhat small and the fish is passable if not exceptional. Cooked dishes fare somewhat better, but not at Tei Tei standards. Orders taken with wasabi on the side generally ignored. Rolls come in the uninspired category. As a plus, the sushi chefs seem willing to try most anything.

Noodle dishes probably best left alone.

Price seems excessive considering the cut, style and taste. Still, really the only Sushi place in Deep Ellum, so if you're down there, you really don't have a choice, so just take it.
