4/5The scene on 15th street in Plano is fabulous. After many dry decades, someone in charge finally wised up and figured out that there are all these engineers around, and engineers like things like beer, and pizza, and burgers, and, well, more beer, but different beer.
So over the last five years old downtown east plano transformed from dusty antiques and tearooms to a vibrant few blocks of bars and restaurants. A place where folks in the high tech community -- and I suppose others -- run into each other as happy hours overlap.
Fillmore was one of the pace-setters here, a sensible place for pub food and a solid list of draft and bottled beers. Busy, but accomodating, a relaxed place to arrange meeting friends. It evolved into a recognized spot on our regular rotation.
Tonight Fillmore filled the bill (sorry, couldn't resist). Just a weird ending - with the bill (again, sorry). A mix up with the receipt that could have been a scam or an honest mistake. Weird enough, rare enough, that I'll think twice about choosing fillmore for a get together. After all, there are other great places on the block.

4/5When I have a day off during the week, I like to bring a book to the Fillmore with me, sit at the bar, and sip beer all day while I read. Beer selection is small but always has a nice variety. They've usually got something from Franconia (based out of McKinney) and last time I was there they had Brooklyn brown ale which brought back memories of home. Food menu isn't extensive but they do things well and you can come up with some nice food/beer pairings.

4/5One of the things I like about this place is that it’s conveniently located for the Plano/Richardson folks. It’s especially nice if you’re wanting to get out of the house but don’t feel like schlepping down to Dallas proper etc. It has your typical pub atmosphere, although at times it can be tough to hear someone sitting across the table from you. The fish and chips are good and so are the steak frites. The beer selection is pretty diverse, a lot better than any of the other places close by. Service can be hit or miss, I recommend if you go, remember who your waitress is and get her the next time. Parking in the downtown Plano is absolutely horrible. If recommend parking across the street at the DART rail station and then walking over, it will save you a trip around the block trying to find parking anywhere else, especially on the weekend.

4/5Went to the Fillmore tonight - first time to eat - overall I was very satisfied. The atmosphere is what is going to keeps me coming back. It’s got a dark wood bar with wooden tables to match. They keep the lights low and the music is just loud enough to tap your feet but soft enough to hear the guy across the table. Service - on point! It looks like four girls take over the entire dining room and they handle it superbly.
Beer list is perfect for the Irish place. There are lots of choices and the glassware to match which is very important to me. What also impressed me was the staff knows specifics about all the beer; sometimes it hard to find a server who knows their stuff.
Food is pretty good. I was with a guy who said it was the best fish & chips he has had since Bathe, England. I'm not that big of a F&C eater so no comment.
