Visitors to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center drive through breathtakingly scenic wildlife in the comfort of their own cars, viewing at close quarters free-ranging herds of majestic African savanna wildlife including various antelope, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra, as well as the handsomest deer you ever did see.
Until a quarter century ago, Fossil Rim was known as Waterfall Ranch, a 1,400 acre wild game ranch. In the early '80s, it began propagation of endangered species. Grevy's Zebra, African addax, and eventually, cheetah and African scimitar-horned oryx were included in the preservation efforts. In just a few years, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center has been restored from its own near extinction to one of the most progressive conservation and education centers in the United States.
The first facility of its kind to have been accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, Fossil Rim participates in a worldwide network of wildlife conservation organizations working to restore the delicate balance between people, animals, and the environment. Over 1,000 animals, representing 50 species of native and non-native animals live peacefully at the 1,500-acre center.
The park opens at 8:30 a.m. Closing time varies seasonally. Please check Fossil Rim's website for more information.
