This place is old and run down. It is in a neighborhood that is struggling to be updated. If you want a good quick meal at lunch time this is the place to go.

On one happenstance, I met a fellow who almost blew himself and half a city block into oblivion when he tried to weld up some huge pipe bomb.

Two weeks later, I had to ask: where would a person go for some good barbeque around here?

His answer: Fred's.

So, I pack her and the parents up and here we go. We stop at a nearby pawn shop to look for Faberge eggs. None.

Fred's is a typical Dallas strip mall situation. However, once you're inside, it could be any number of delapitated shacks. Awesome.

Pick your stuff cafeteria style. Fred actually tells us his story of trying to put his kids through college and something else tenuously related to reality. The menu is mostly unreadable.

Baked potatoes are huge and meaty. Brisket tastes like carnivore heaven. Drinks are basic but cheap and plentiful.

We have a great time throwing stories around with Fred. Everyone is lying.

Probably not the best choice for vegans.
