4/5Hanasho is one of our favorite sushi spots. They have a very large Japanese customer base, so they offer many unusual items that you can't find other places. The sushi is reasonably priced and they don't ridiculously overcharge for cold Sake like many places do.
Sushi is always extremely fresh. Kenny, the head sushi chef is very attentive and friendly. He will gladly make anything you can think of and offer wonderful suggestions as well. When we weren't sure we would like something, he's even let us try a bite before ordering it. Be sure to check out the daily special board for some seasonal specials like monkfish liver (a bit like fois gras), giant oysters, and hot stone clams.
They offer Kama (fish collar) on the regular menu and offer it as a lunch special during the week. It's one of the best I've had and also very reasonably priced.
For dessert try the Sakura mochi - a gooey red bean dessert rice cake covered in a Japanese cherry blossom leaf.
If you smoke, you're in luck. There is a back dining room just for smokers.

5/5If you are looking for a Sushi restaurant that has some personality, where you can talk to the Sushi Chef and where they want and appreciate your business, this is the place. I always like to sit at the sushi bar and I like to converse with the Sushi Chef. I like to find out what he likes and dislikes and ask him to make something that is not on the menu. Mr. Suzuki is most accommodating. Most other places in the Dallas area that I have been (Blue Fish) you might as well sit at a table because you have no idea who’s making your dish and they would rather you didn’t talk to the sushi production staff as it slows down the assemble line. Sushi should be a social experience. Yuji Suzuki and his staff make this a wonderful place.

4/5Previous reviews are right on the money. Hanasho is an authentic Japanese restaurant and the service is typically warm and the sushi chef loves to talk with you.
If you are looking for your typical dark lighting, see and be seen, trendy sushi date place you should stay home. If you want to experience some authentic Japanese cuisine with reasonable prices then don't miss it.

2/5started off with a Philly roll, a Garlic Tuna roll and something called Karange, which was described as fried marinated chicken breast nuggets served with “special sauce”. The rolls were nothing spectacular; they were similar to the sushi found at the local grocery store. The chicken were diced tidbits that were fried up and seriously served with KETCHUP and a small blurp of yellow mustard as the aforementioned “special sauce”. Despite the starters we went ahead and ordered entrees as I joked there had better not be any more ketchup. I got the Pork Katsu (Deep fried pork tender loin in light breadcrumb batter served with special sauce) and a miso soup and he got the Honey BBQ Rib (Grilled pork rib with chef’s own honey BBQ sauce) and a salad that came with a sweet ginger house dressing. The miso was pretty much tasteless so after two spoonfuls I had enough. His salad was a roughly chopped bowl of iceberg covered in a watery bright orange dressing. He was also done after a few bites. The entrees came fairly quickly along with small bowls of severely overcooked rice. My pork was heavily breaded and greasy. The meat was pounded so thin I was essentially just eating breading. Oh, and it was served with KETCHUP! The grilled ribs, with artificial grill marks, were fatty, unseasoned and covered in what tasted like bottled sauce. They serve better pork ribs at Chinese buffets, people. It was pretty terrible food and I was pretty bummed considering all the positive reviews we had found.
