I enjoy coming here for many reasons, the food is just one of them. First, the location is fun - plan on spending some time checking out the cool shops in the Bishop Arts district. The restaurant draws an interesting crowd and makes for good people watching - the mirrored walls only add to this effect. I have not tried a lot of the food here because I just can't resist the shrimp and grits (cheesy with a spicy tabasco) and the fried green tomato sandwich. Just writing about it makes me wanna go.

Being the anchor of Bishop Arts for so long shouldn't be a reason for being snobby but unless the manager likes you, go somewhere else. She'll just talk bad about you like she did her Oak Cliff neighbor until she found out the woman was a writer for the local newspaper. Hattie's doesn't believe in advertising but when your reputation gets tarnished, you need to start. And update that wine list!

The cream of the crop without a doubt in Oak Cliff. Have been here numerous times and always been pleased. Reasonable prices, interesting range of options on the menu. Very comfort-food oriented. My wife loves the chicken fried steak.
