The cream of the crop without a doubt in Oak Cliff. Have been here numerous times and always been pleased. Reasonable prices, interesting range of options on the menu. Very comfort-food oriented. My wife loves the chicken fried steak.

Being the anchor of Bishop Arts for so long shouldn't be a reason for being snobby but unless the manager likes you, go somewhere else. She'll just talk bad about you like she did her Oak Cliff neighbor until she found out the woman was a writer for the local newspaper. Hattie's doesn't believe in advertising but when your reputation gets tarnished, you need to start. And update that wine list!

I enjoy coming here for many reasons, the food is just one of them. First, the location is fun - plan on spending some time checking out the cool shops in the Bishop Arts district. The restaurant draws an interesting crowd and makes for good people watching - the mirrored walls only add to this effect. I have not tried a lot of the food here because I just can't resist the shrimp and grits (cheesy with a spicy tabasco) and the fried green tomato sandwich. Just writing about it makes me wanna go.

The only thing I don’t like is the fact that it’s in the Bishop Arts district, so it’s a little jaunt for some of the northern suburb folks. The place is almost always bustling on the weekends, so be prepared to wait a little bit to be seated. Lots of black and white in the interior décor, but I think it all balances out pretty well. I had the buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes and tasso gravy and I’ll have to say it was mighty tasty! I can’t wait to go back and try something different.

HATTIE'S IS A GREAT PLACE TO GO FOR FRIED CHICKEN OR CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICHES.

WHILE THERE , MAKE SURE YOU TRY THE TOMATO SOUP!!!

SADLY, ON MY LATEST VISIT I WAS TOLD THEIR "CLUB SANDWICH" WAS NO LONGER OFFERED.(THEY HAVE LOST A CROWD PLEASER.)
