Todd Rundgren My college roommate and her boyfriend looooved Todd Rundgren. They used to say "Todd is God." A lot. Anyway, he's touring to promote his new album, a rocker called Arena. More info

This place is too expensive for what you get. Dallas is a city rich with fine dining options, and your money would have more culinary bang elsewhere. Every aspect of my dinner was barely adequate. It was a slow night, but we were sat at a table by the kitchen and right by the waiter station. In spite of this proximity, the service was amateurish. Waiter didn't know what the kitchen had or didn't have. The entrees were simply not that good. It was difficult for our vegetarian friend to even order something that sounded good.

I was not too terribly impressed here. Granted we went during restaurant week, so perhaps they dumbed the menu down, but nothing stood out. The decor is somewhat old fashioned for the Henderson area.
I think there are more interesting places nearby and wouldn't go back.

Agent 99 and I have been here 3 times, the most recent being about 5 weeks ago. We always split their hearts of roamine salad, a good take on a ceasar. Pan seared sea b bass with a lobster bisque on cheddar risotto is another keeper, and it's obvious they spent time doing the risotto the correct way. Buttery sea bass melts in your mouth.
99 loves the lump crab and shrimp lasagna -- takes her back to her N'Awlins days. I have also had a grilled sirloin (almost like a filet) that is every bit as good as any steak house (and I'm not a steak guy, normally).
Great live music and, as Rawlins points out here, a great overall vibe. It is not, however, an inexpensive place to eat. But, the food and service are top notch! Hector aims to please!
(BTW... Paging Geoff Keah -- your new keyboard and palate cleanser are ready in aisle 5, next to the Savor rest area.)

I like the 'it' of Hector's. I eat at the bar and the service is attentive and first class as are the apetizers and entree' food. I met the unlikely chef and she is devilish and talented and gutsy.
I grew up around the corner, and believe me, this place has been many restaurants in it's time. But I think Hector's is unique in that it has oddly esoteric menu items and yet manages to have a tony but never elitest feel.

Overall I wasn’t that impressed with Hectors. I know it might sound crazy, but some of the dishes seemed just downright, odd? Well, at least for the typical Henderson Ave restaurant scene. I’ll admit to being curious as to what makes a fried chicken turn out to be $23, but I digress…
Well I don’t mind live music while I’m dining, on the particular night I went, the music act was pretty loud. Not so far as just being loud on their own accord, but just too loud for a restaurant setting, or at least the confined space they were in.
As for now, I’ll give it an overall 3 rating, but wouldn’t mind going back to see if it’s any better.

Ostrich burgers? Well, yes the one time I visited here and very nicely done.
Overall the menu was well balanced and interesting, but I understand the Chef has moved on and as generally happens - things may have changed.
There really is a Hector, though and I doubt the quality will have suffered.
Winelist was more than adequate and the service was friendly and efficient.
