1/5I haven't been so disappointed in a long time!
After reading many reviews about this local shop, I was very excited to try it out. We planned a very special outing for this! All because of the reviews!
I went with my 3 children and a friend who also had 3 kids.
We are not from Highland Park but from another well respected suburb. But wow oh, wow. Did we EVER get the stare down from the other customers. I guess 3 kids a piece are too many for a place like this. I haven't felt stares like that since junior high!
We also had to help clean up the tables and we waited forever to place our order.
The food was okay but the service was horrible and the vibe...well only the old people seemed to tolerate our group.
I felt like saying to the Highland Park moms..."Take a picture, it will last longer."
So if you can handle no service and being stared at...go for it!

5/5My first time at HPP was a memorable one. I have dreams about the grilled cheese. Eating at the counter reminds me of Happy Days or Grease. And in case you need any meds, just go to the Pharmacy in the back. They are sure to know you by name if you've been there enough times. Also, order a Bowl of Mix from the counter and you'll be delighted.

5/5Began going there with my grandson for grilled cheese and chocolate sodas. I now take my great-grandchildren for an experience they will not find anywhere else. Wonderful hot chicken salad sandwiches and yummy yummy ice cream sodas. Better go before it goes away!

4/5Great old fashioned soda shop. Get a grilled cheese or club and order a shake, malt or rootbeer float. Not many soda shops left like it in Dallas. Great place to take kids, or a date. Plenty of shopping and other bars and restaurants nearby.

5/5Oh Man, if you like the old timey soda fountain pharmacy's this is the place. There is nothing like walking in & sitting at the bar. Sipping on milk shake, while day dreaming of what it was like back in the day when a nickle went further then today. if you are shopping up & down Knox St. Pop in for a nice cool refreshment, and dream for a while. Its the perfect getaway when the wife/girlfriend wants to max out credit cards!
Then again you might be crying in your rootbeer float instead of dreaming :o(
