Homestead Winery is the oldest continually operating winery in the Red River Valley of North Texas. Barb and Gabe Parker started Homestead desiring to continue the Parker family farming tradition begun in North Texas by Gabe's grandfather more than 100 years ago. When the vineyard was planted, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes replaced the traditional wheat and corn in the rich, fertile soils of Ivanhoe. Today, grapes are brought in from various growers to create a wide variety of wines. Wine making is under the experienced direction of Dr. Roy Mitchell.
Visitors to the Dallas and Fort Worth area can sample and purchase Homestead's wines at their tasting room in Grapevine. It is situated in a 1890s Victorian home just off historic Main Street.
