First and foremost, iravat is the worst Indian restaurant ever...I went there with my family for my dad's bday. We got an attitude from the waitress and she tried to rush us into ordering our food...on top of all that when the food came out she kinda smacked it on the table and didn't even come back to check on us. I tried to get a hold of the owner but he was too busy buttering up his non-Indian customers... He came to me asking what was the problem instead of asking me how was the food or is everything ok herr like he was asking the non Indians ones...I told him what was wrong and I felt as if he brushed me off. He didn't even apologize!!!!!!

Ultimately, I was just looking for a good night out with my family. This just ruined it for us

you want a good restaurant with great customer service???? Go to mayuri

We ate at Iravat for the first time on 5-19-09. The food was good but the service was atrocious. We were told the waiter was new. The waiters should be trained to SERVE before actually doing so, or someone should monitor them. We'd go back for the food but if the service remains as bad I will definitely tell friends not to go there. They took a long time to serve the food as well.

Coming from India, I have only one thing to say about this restaurant. Makes me feel at home, the food is authentic as close as it can get to any Indian restaurant. Service is good. I would have preferred if it had remained open throughout the day and not close at 3.00 pm sharp on sundays.

I must say that I am amused and bewildered at some of the comments that the visitors to Iravat restaurant have contibuted to on this website. I used to work in 5 star hotels in London and have been exposed to several cuisines, especially Indian. Since coming to USA I have tried almost all Indian restaurants in 50miles radius of Plano and I find that Iravat is a welcomed change with its ambiant atmosphere and aromatic and fresh food. Yes, you may have to wait for your food to be served but their waiters and waitresses are charming and welcoming and will take care of you. True connoisseurs will always make time to experience the best in any cuisine. I feel that their Executive Chef takes pride in serving the best and the freshest. All their dishes have a unique flavour not like other Indian restaurants where they use the same preprepared sauces and preprepared cuts of meat. Also I find that their Tandoor dishes are cooked to order and are excellent.

I was present at the restaurant when a large group of guests kept complaining and the Manager had to call police in the end. Their mannerism would have put any Indians to shame and I had to keep explaining to my non-Indian guests that we don't normally behave in such manner. They arrived as a small group and during the evening their friends kept joining the group and expecting their table to be served first before the other waiting tables. Our own order was delayed as the manager had to take care of that group and serve them our Nan bread to silence them. It didn't stop there, they demanded discount on their bill, didn't want to pay gratuities and also wanted apology from a young waitress who was reduced to tears.

We occassion Iravat at least twice a week and we enjoy the highest in hospitality and cuisine, so do not get put off by these riffraffs.

This restaurant is relatively new and have been there couple of times. Although the food is good the quality of service is really poor.

Given this is my favorite new restaurant in my neighborhood I was surprised to find the review sthat I did here. I've visited at least twice a week in the last month with no issue.

The summary of the reviews is as follows:

Billy appears to be the redneck that gives Texas a bad name.

I did hear about NK's, foodlover, and vikramraghav experience. From my understanding you have a group of people who want everything for free. So it's funny that they mention the word beggars. For someone who isn't willing to pay and always looking for a deal the word isn't beggars... It's FREE LOADERS. It's amazing how "CHEAP" people can truly be.

This restaurant is a nice addition to our neighborhood and given Mike has posted here he should stop by if only to walk in before allowing the village idiot's make the comments they do.

I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a new experience.

I would respond to HC's post but it appears that the village he left is in search of a new idiot so perhaps he should go back. His "If you're into cat feces and rabbit rape" shows his utter lack of intelligence.

Well this is ironic. I drove back up from Austin Sunday night with a friend with the goal of making it back to town in time for the Cowboys game. I remembered that Iravat had a fancy flat screen tv and thought we might be able to catch the beginning of the game there and get dinner at the same time. Unfortunately they hadn't yet subscribed to local channels, the owner(?) didn't realize that you have to add local channels separately with dishnetwork. So we ordered takeout. I knew it would be close to missing some of the game because they had to prepare the food since everything there is cooked to order. But in the time we were waiting the friendly owner called up dishnetwork and ordered the local package, as we were leaving he was resetting the receiver I believe. So service may be a bit slow but otoh the guy went out of his way to get the game on right then and there. Our food was good even though it was take home, my friend commented that he was impressed and I've definitely solidified my feeling that they get good quality lamb. They've also finally managed to staff up and have hired some pretty friendly people, I look forward to seeing how far they can come when the service really settles in.

I smell something very fishy about this 'review' pile on, and the stench is not likely coming from the Iravat kichen. It has the flavor of something cooked up by independents whose interests are not those shared by potential customer Pegasus readers. Bravo that it is being scrutinized as less-than-random vulgar slander instead of earnest community 'review'.

i spoke to the owner of Iravat, who says that a large family group came into his restaurant on Friday night and had complaints about a dish as well as the service; that a refund was extended; but that the group became sufficiently vociferous that police were summoned.

the owner did not witness the incident himself, but said he would find out further details from his friday night staff, and possibly post a comment on pegasus later today.

Hey Mike I do not own a restaurant or not a part of it. Well I eat at many places. There is no personal vendetta or anything like it. I guess the day I went there were many dissatisfied customers and everyone where complaining till a point he could not handle it anymore and the manager had a outbreak. The funniest thing was I met a friend there and was talking to them and here the manager charges again accusing me of complaining about the service to customers, when it was just a hi to long met friend. That took me by surprise. The most unbelievable was calling the cops and I walked out and many of others who were complaining. That's why I just gave a word of caution to all out there.

Actually, nk, HC is a regular user of the site and has commented here before. I'm fairly sure he doesn't own a restaurant.

What about you? Do you own or work at a restaurant? Do you know Billy, foodlover or vikramraghav? Do you have any sort of personal relationship or beef with the folks at Iravat? Did you or someone you know ever work there?

We care deeply around here about the integrity of our user reviews. And this sudden spate of anti-Iravat sentiment seems less than organic.

Seriously considering wiping this whole thread clean unless I can be satisfied that this isn't a personal vendetta.

And if it's not, here's a question: Would the soup nazi have gotten such early press if he launched today?

Looks like HC is the owner or part owner of iravat and his post by itself shows the attitude of the restaurant. The chef appens to have thick facial hair and does not even bother to have his hair covered. Plano city has recieved complaints on this one and looking onto it. Stay out of Iravat and be happy!!!!

Horrible restaurant. The food all tasted like cat dung. When I told the waiter that, the manager came out, sprayed me with mace, dragged me through the kitchen and past the cats to a secret basement dungeon, and left me for the pleasure of a warren of genetically-modified were-rabbits that had been hopped up on Cialis.

Thank God the manager responded to similar complaints from anonymous first-time posters NK, Vikramraghav, and Foodlover, by calling the COPS, who looked around, found the entrance to the secret lair, kicked in the door, handed out citations for public indecency to me and the were-rabbits, then set me free.

If you're into cat feces and rabbit rape, Iravat is your kind of place. I personally think you'd be happier at a competing restaurant, whose name it would be tacky to provide since I'm part owner of it, along with my other multiple personalities in this comment thread.

We have been to these place 3 times now and 2 times before the last I have liked the food. Last time we were there, they made us for 2 hours to get the food. Even after 2 hours we got the curries not the bread and some food was cooked in stale oil. On informing the manager that some food was cooked in stale oil, he gave us a verbal beating and from there on it got worst. He asked us to plead for food (like we were getting it for free). The manager called the police on complaining about quality of service and food and the staff along with the manager misbehaved badly. We have never been to a restaurant that is no appologetic of their mistakes.

I go to a restaurant to be served and not to beg. Its not just the food but the whole experience that matters and that is what one pays for. Personally I would not like to go a place that does not know how to treat their customers.

You have to make your own choice !!

I've never been to Iravat, so I don't know what to make of these reviews.

But, for what it's worth, luniz ias a longtime and frequent user of the site and these negative commenters are brand new and have only commented here.

Each commenter comes from a different online provider and IP address, so it's unlikely they are all the same person.

The WORST service we ever had. Waited for 90 mins for food, and received with such a terrible quality. The manager acts like a dictator and thinks he serves beggars. He strongly feels he is the best and people don't have any other options. More importantly, when arguing about the quality of food, he didn't hesitate to call COPS. Such a pathetic person and the restaurant wouldn't last long if his attitude continues like this. -VV

The Service in here is horrific, the manager treats you like piece of junk. The time for food to be served is minimum of 45 minutes and if u complain he complains that you are shouting. And if you complain he will call the cops.I am talking out of experience, he did call the cop. The food is not worth the money. Save yourself from harassment by the staff. Save your time, energy, money and go to some other nice place.

Although without any apparent content, I kind of like Billy's drunk and random comments. I can say I usually don't consider the 'ethics' of a restaurant, other than the questionable choice to serve bottled water, of course.

luniz, i think you nailed it on the head in your assessment or Iravat. i also wondered, based on the inappropriately personal nature of billy's comment, and the fact that billy just signed on as a user on the same day the comment was made, whether there was some questionable agenda other than to simply offer a review of the place.

Wow I kinda have a problem with Billy's review. I've been here at least 3 or 4 times and I highly disagree that the food and service are bad. The food might or might not be the most authentic (seems authentic to me) but it's well prepared and the ingredients are good, especially the lamb. Lamb malai saag was a great dish. The service is certainly not great but it is improving now that they've managed to hire a couple people. Portions are decently sized, a couple could probably split an appetizer and entree. If they mistreated you somehow you should describe it so that people can make their own judgements. The guy running the place has seemed a little harried but certainly not violent!

The service and food is too bad. The manager or the owner does not know how to behave with his customers. They dont even have any ethics. This is not a customer service restaurant. So, I recommend you people not to go this restaurant again in ur life time. If you do so, you might be badly hurt by the owner of this restaurant.
