The vibe here is intense - it's neat to just be in this restaurant. The lighting and decor indeed make it a fun place to "see and be seen." This is not the place to go for nachos and burritos.
The service was warm, friendly and competent. Having self-imposed dietary restrictions sometimes makes me feel whiny when ordering. However when I told the waiter at Javier's that I didn't eat any meat but fish and asked what he would order if he were me, he just said "Hm. Do you like mushrooms? Good. Do you like garlic? Good. Ok. I'll bring you something fantastic."
It wasn't on the menu, but the mushroom-garlic-butter-wine-sauced fish he brought me was really wonderful, as were the other recommendations he made to our table. If you're short on time or just want to try it out, margaritas and ceviche were a good bet, too.

I bothered to get to know the back room staff so I get great service here.
The food has always been consistant. The talapia is wonderful, the mole is pretty good and the steak is also ood given it's covered in a somewhat heavy reduction.
The drinks here are expensive.
Usually a see and be seen place.
