West Fest Polka Festival Westfest kicks off the weekend Friday evening with the Miss Westfest Contest. Gates to the fairground (in West, Texas, south on I-35 just beyond Hillsboro) open at 5:30 p.m., and you can hang out touring the food booths until the 12:30 a.m. closing. If there was ever a place to do your "wurst," this is it. And don't forget kolaches for dessert. More info

I've had hits and missed here. I think the house with its myriad of rooms is a neat place to visit. The food at lunch, which is mostly when I've gone, is good, not great. The last time I had the enchiladas verdes and thought they were good. There's probably better in town - Avila's - but at this price its fine and authentic.

I went after hearing that this was THE place to go for Mexican seafood.
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The ceviche was ok, but not as good as I expected. The shrimp coctail was too sweet and tasted as if they used catsup. The Paella was very standard. The dish was mostly rice, with very little saffron flavor or much of any flavor really. The fish was way overcooked.
The top-shelf margarita's were expensive and weak and made with a really bad mix.
The restaurant is in an old converted house, so it's small and cramped.
Waitstaff was friendly.
