I avoid places that use the "econ-friendly" band wagon to sell their products....

SitizenKane, i go out of my way to support those places. to me, if they're paying attention to environmental issues, they're very likely also paying attention to sourcing good ingredients. the places that i can think of off the top of my head who make that effort also have very good food, including Velvet Taco and Snappy Salads. why NOT support a business that's concerned about the planet?

You can think that there is a relationship between companies that use "eco friendly" advertising to boost branding, but I don't ...i try to do more homework than just a "wow they say they are eco-friendly, gosh, they must be".....in fact, cruise the grocery store asile and look at all the crap that uses it in their branding; it is a marketing scame now a days !
Just like that the Johnsville food truck that sells "gourmet" crap !

Wow; it says it is "gourmet" it must be; afterall they use "gourmet" so they must care about serving "gourmet" food.

gourmet is an ambiguous word, but there's no way to fudge 'eco-friendly'. either you are choosing the (more expensive) plant-based packaging, avoiding using plastic, eschewing styrofoam etc, or you're not
i think you're missing out on potentially good eating

Sorry TG; I like you but you are living in a dream world on this one; a quick search of "eco friendly" shows that the term "eco friendly" can be fudged and is very ambigusous...........and it isn't uncommon for products to make the claim they are eco friendly when in realty they are not ! Just like the term "gourmet" ..

SitizenKane, i like you too, those are good links - i can see that the topic is confusing for many people, especially when it comes to products sold at a supermarket. but if you visit Velvet Taco or Snappy Salads or even Chipotle, you'll see they use paper or potato-starch containers instead of plastic or styrofoam. all of those places also serve good food; maybe it's just a coincidence?
i'll be visiting Liberty Burger this week, i promise to investigate their eco-packaging. guess i won't see you there, sniff sniff

Enjoyed the burger today - blog post coming soon
It all seemed very eco-friendly but didn't really dig too deeply

In Austin, this "eco-friendly" designation has become more of a political-identifier and mindset-meritbadge than an actual statement about a product/service. Laws are tightening regarding loose claims of "eco-responsibility", but it's still a buzzword that sells well with certain groups. Re: Eco-burger-joints...It's nice and comfy to have a higher moral standard while serving-up those moral-burgers, but dude, it's still dead mangled bovine that flopped around and squealed on a filthy concrete floor somewhere in Tulsa just days before... Moral-burgers? Someone's wanting their buns buttered on both sides.
