2/5Well, after waiting a few months and with great anticipation, Baxter's has opened. At first the place smelled better, it had been remodeled and your clothes no longer smelled like an ashtray when you went home. They had hired most of the Lonnegan's staff and had similar bar pricing and higher food pricing. I used to like to go to Lonnegan’s for dinner and drinks but after trying several of the menu items only one word can describe the food, terrible. I have eaten my last meal at Baxter’s. After the opening things started to change. Prices went up, there is now an odor when you walk in the door, your clothes again smell like an ashtray and the well drinks are now brands unknown to man certain to give you all the problems of cheap booze. I am not used to finding nondescript brands in the bars in Texas. It does not appear that the owner has considered the demographics of the neighborhood surrounding his bar with his choice of music, food and liquor. Overall, the tab is pretty stiff for bad food and weak drinks.

Just called the old Lonnegan's number again. They are now saying that they will be open sometime this weekend. An ad will be in the Fort Worth weekly next week.

You have me there Kris.. They were the only bar in the area, but it was a great bar. I preferred it over the Duke's on 183 and the Papa G's in Watauga. Those places are a little too bright inside and too loud.
I was really hoping that they would be open this week, but you can bet I will be there on the 26th when they open to check it out and to write a review.
I wonder if I can list a new bar or if it has to be added by Pegasus staff.

May 26 is the new opening date for Baxter's Sports Bar. Until then, enjoy the newly remodeled and expanded Papa G's Sports Bar in Bedford. Baxter's on I-35 and Western Center will be opening soon too.

well kris, this would go with what they told me initially, which is that they were not closing. i'll tell ya, it's been a confusing, up-and-down, back-and-forth, are-they-or-aren't-they deal from the get-go. sure am glad you're keeping us in the loop

Well, TG, it appears that they are using Lonnegans old website....how funny! Must have some or all of the same people that were associated with Lonnegan's - wouldn't be the first time someone did that. So, it might appear that all of you that are fans of the old place are getting what you want.....a clone of Lonnegans! And, VinGrif, they were the ONLY bar in the area.

kris demands satisfaction.
Pretty sure the reason there's still a page marked closed, that doesn't show up in a search, is because Pegasus doesn't immediately forget something existed simply b/c it's not in business anymore.
Angst angst angst.

"I have seen no activity at the building."
Then you haven't been by there in a week or two or possible longer.
"It was the best bar in it's general vicinity and the community has been going without."
Best bar for what? Other than the simple function of getting a drink and a burger, it was no better than any other bar.

I am very happy to hear that they will be reopening, and the sooner the better. It was the best bar in it's general vicinity and the community has been going without.

kris_1109 are you sure it's reopening under a different name? Do you know when this will happen and what changes are expected? I have seen no activity at the building.

kris, thanks for your input. we didn't mark it as Closed previously because there seemed to be some dispute about its status. the good news for you is that, now that we have it marked closed, if you try to do a search for it, it won't appear.
thanks for your diligence! if you have any more tips on what's happening there, be sure to drop me a line: teresagubbins@pegasusnews.com

Lonnegan's IS closed. There is a sign on the door that says: 'you have been locked out for non-payment'. I would say it's likely that they will not re-open. I would think someone from Pegasus would check this out.

2/5Great location, really good happy hours specials, but very, very smokey. We would love to have more office happy hours there but the ventialtion is not good at all. We enjoy the bands and music too. Do something about the smoke and it would be the perfect place to hang out.
