This is a rebuttal for the post regarding poor service and over pricing. The pricing was discussed weeks prior to the event and agreed on. There was a selective loss of memory or hearing on the date of the event. The day prior to the event, the number of guest was confirmed and food and setting were prepared, we are not responsible for their guests being rude by not showing up.
Bringing in outside food is a huge liability exposure and additional requirements, which cost money, must be met. I can assure you that the cutting fee was much less than the $60.00 they paid a well known bakery for the cupcakes.
Each of the tables had a caraf of tea on it at all times with the tea of choice for the table. There were two dedicated wait staff to the party who made sure the service was above and beyond the norm. Guests chose to move chair arrangements and the unannounced addition of a young vocal baby added additional challanges to the service.
New ownership occured on July 1, 2005, over three years ago. If this is the first time they have been there, then I suppose they are not regulars.
This is first time we have had an issue with pricing, number of guest, service, etc. As a result of this party, we are choosing to implement a contract with prior deposits, etc and all charges in writting to include bringing in outside items.

What a disappointment. After having hosting two wonderful luncheon parties here under the former ownership, I hosted a third luncheon for 25 guests this weekend under the NEW ownership. The service (or lack thereof) was horrible, we were overcharged (including a surprise $2.50 fee + $0.50 tip per person for a cake "cutting" fee to serve mini-cupcakes (which inherently don't need cutting) that I brought in-with their permission-on my own monogrammed napkins...that's twice what I paid the bakery for the cupcakes themselves!), and guests were treated like burdons when they asked for items as simple as iced tea to accompany their lunches. I'm so sad to lose what was such a darling quaint location to the disgraceful service of the new management.

Maudee's has the best egg salad!! Everything they serve is great and the owners are so sweet. Kid-friendly, too!
