So I was inspired by this story to check out the Old Red Museum today. As a Dallasite, I've always wanted to learn a little more about the city I've called home for the last several years.

I have to say I was very impressed with the amount of work that was put in for this museum. The exhibits are very elaborate, detailed, and engaging. They have the history of Dallas split into 4 quadrants representing different eras in Dallas - each quadrant has a video introduction about the era, and lots of artifacts, pictures, and anecdotes about the history of the city.

It was interesting to read off the names of people and places in the area's history and be able to put names & faces to many locations & streets that exist today (i.e., Keller Springs was actually a spring water facility operated by a man named Keller).

Some notable artifacts: +Signed fedora from Tom Landry +JR's Stetson hat +Handcuffs used for Lee Harvey Oswald during initial arrest +Doak Walker's Heisman trophy

Many others to see. I would highly encourage a visit to this museum. It's an amazing example of what this city is capable of as far as historical preservation - I only wish city government could put more efforts like this to use on other historical landmarks.
