Friday Night Films with AFI Dallas "If you build it, they will come" ... could've described Ray Nasher's vision for NorthPark and his sculpture center, or Lenier Temerlin and Michael Cain's desire to start a local AFI festival. The two team up for an all-American screening of Field of Dreams in the Dallas Arts District. Or there's always fireworks. More info

This place used to just be “Republic” and they closed down for several months and re-emerged as “Old Republic”. How they came to that name, I’ll never know. Located within walking distance of Breadwinners at the intersection of Hall and McKinney. I’m not really sure if I’ve encountered many people that have gone here to actually eat. When they re-opened, there were some changes on the interior, but if you didn’t really look hard it was kind of hard to notice. They still have an outside patio, and there’s a good mixture of people both inside and out. Most of the time you’ll encounter the typical Uptown/K-H crowd there. Service at the bar can be somewhat challenging as there always seems to be a line waiting there. The bathrooms are unisex and the last time I was there, a couple decided to christen it in their own special way.
I’d rate it as a decent place to start out your night if you’re headed in that direction. I don’t recall ever paying a cover charge, but they make up for it in their drink prices. But, considering the area they are located in it’s not unrealistic.
