I've dined here several times since the opening 4 months ago. I was lucky enough to be invited to the soft opening and fortunate enough to have gotten to try the Akaushi cut. For the money ($100) honestly, it's not worth it. It WAS a tasty piece of beef...buttery, melted in your mouth, but I've found the prime rib to be much better tasting. As for starters, the maui onion rings are excellent..thick cut sweet onions in a tempura style batter...i order the sauce on the side, as sometimes they can lay it on a bit thick causing the batter to become a little soggy. The black truffle gnocchi is a wonderful dish - almost enough to suffice as a meal. The buttery rectangular bits of pan friend pasta drizzled with truffle oil smell and tast amazing! As mentioned above the mac and cheese is excellent as well. I've also tried the fries and found them to be a welcome change to run of the mill potatoes. Soups are wonderful here, with my favorite being the clam chowder. Tons of littleneck clams, thick pieces of potato...so so good. All in all the food here is top notch...they also just started doing a happy hour Monday to Friday from 4-7 with some pretty great deals. 1/2 off on wine, specialty martinis and beer. If you combine that on a Monday with the $32 prime rib special, you get a pretty wonderful experience for a pretty good price..the happy hour is at the bar only...

It will be interesting to see if Ounce can make it. After their glowing review in DMN, the place has been pretty packed. Overall a pretty good wine selection, and prices on the wine and other adult beverages are typical of the Dallas steak house scene.

They have a back room for meetings or large parties, which is closed off by glass windows. This also appears to double as their cigar room, but I have yet to enjoy in this portion of the restaurant.

We started off with the tempura Maui onion rings, and they were pretty tasty, served with a roasted red pepper horseradish aioli, priced at $7. I stuck with the 8 oz prime filet and it was tasty, about what you’d expect from a good steak house in the area. They also have a Akaushi beef NY Strip for $100, which would be interesting to taste to see if it lives up to its price tag. The blueberry Malbec sauce tastes just about what it sounds like. It was a nice touch, but I don’t think I’d want it to accompany an entire steak. If ordered again, I’d probably stay with the black peppercorn or demi-glace sauce. The parmesan crusted and truffle dusted fries sounded decadent, but for the $7 price tag, I think they were overrated. From what I’ve found, mixing the truffle oil with French fries can either make fries be awesome or just seem to fall kind of flat. I’m sure they can taste delectable, but it should be consistent in order to garner widespread attention. The Yukon gold whipped potatoes were overall pretty tasty. I’d also recommend the applewood smoked bacon Mac n cheese as one of the sides. Mac n cheese seems to be one of the hot new things to be serving in a lot of places, and I think it’s safe to say they do it right.

Overall I think the food and service was great, albeit the venture as a whole can be a bit pricy. I look forward to returning and trying out different items!
