Get there early!! The security has to scan every single drivers liscense before you can enter.. Then the computer prints out a wrist band for each ticket holder. We arrived 45 minutes before Chris Cornell came onstage, and we stood in the atrium waiting while 3(!!) security guards attempted to do this. When we heard Chris go onstage and began with Spoonman, I started booing. The security guy gave me flack for doing that, which I of course said "Would you like more?" How the concert industry hasn't gotten with the times is a tragedy. Horrible customer service at a decent venue.

To add to that: it's like a huge, dark room, flanked on either side by bars, with a huge stage, decent sound system, and little outdoor smoking deck. But be warned, I suggest paying for drinks in cash, because the hold fee they put on your card is a whopping $50. It took the entire weekend and Monday for mine to clear. Other than that little point, it's really a pretty rad venue.

Another attempt at a description:
Gilley's minus the mechanical bull equals the Palladium Ballroom.
