The Rusty Taco ---not my favorite. Long waits, cold food once you get it...and one day we went and were told to come back later because they were all backed up and couldn't serve us!!! I know that there are growing pains, but come on. I will go next door to Desperados where the food and the service is GREAT!!!!

I ate here at few days ago and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. They've got a shabby chic thing going on, with the restaurant situated in an old gas station that still has the giant overhang outside with tables underneath. That part of Greenville is perfect patio territory (and good people watching) and is a short walk from all the SMU bars.
We tried 5 different tacos and agreed that the vegetarian "rajas" taco was the best. It had grilled poblanos, mushrooms, onions and red peppers. Their queso was killer too.
All in all, we tried almost everything on the menu and spent a bit more than $20 for two people! We had 5 tacos ($2 each), queso, guac, salsa, a margarita, and a beer. Cheap date, good food.

While I agree that the atmosphere was great, that was about it. We tried 5 different tacos and the guacamole, and nothing made us want to go there again. The food was bland, the guac tasted watered down, and the tortillas seemed to be nothing more than a device to hold the food. My date and I both agreed that Chipotle has much better food, which is a pretty low bar in itself.

2/5I have always been on the hunt for the ultimate taco (afterall, I did live in Austin for 6 years which may be the taco mecca of Texas). I went to Rusty Taco for the first time. I got the vegetarian taco and the fish taco. Both were very small. The veggie taco has prob 3 mushrooms. The fish had two small strips in it. The flavor was okay - bland. I could probably make better tacos at home.
The only good thing about Rusty Taco were the salsas. The habanero salsa is spicy but good.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I would rather go to two other taco shops in the n'hood (Good 2 To Go and Fuzzy's) or trek up to Torchy's (the #1 tacos in my opinion).
