Description

Dart pub and pool hall with nine pool tables available.

TexasFoodie, anonymous:

Old pool halls never die, they just put in a stage, a dance floor, a kitchen, new bathrooms, a huge new bar and two giant projection screens! At least that’s what Tommy Kemp and Richard Hendrix, the new owners of Sharky’s are doing. Sharky’s has been running continuously for over quarter of a century, in the same location, and has been a bastion for dart throwers and pool sharks alike. In October 2009, Kemp and Hendrix took over management of the classic dive and immediately began a total face lift. “It’s almost hard to recognize the place” noted one of the regulars, on a recent visit. “I wanted to clean the place up and turn it into a respectable sports bar” says Kemp. “There's not another decent place to watch a game in the area.” The whole place has been repainted, a stage has been built, a new satellite system and plasma screens are in place, and two huge high-def projection screens are up and running. The new cedar bar is all in and looks great. They have live music every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and karaoke on Tuesdays. Also look for a new specialty shark-themed drink menu. They’re going to be running Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as daily drink specials, so take a dive into the new “Tank” and get shark bit! You won’t be disappointed. Their new website is www.sharkysongreenville.com.

What can be said. The previous owner made many needed improvements but was unable to manage properly. There is a new owner now who is not going to let this noteworthy neighborhood hideout go down the drain. It deserves to be saved. Hell! it deserves to be deemed a Historic Preservation Site.

Known as a pool hall with dart league play it still has it's old flavor. There are coin op pool tables now but the dart boards are well maintained and the video games are still entertaining. There is still a Big Buck and Golden Tee! The bar is well stocked, the tap beer is cold, the juke box is very complete, and the prices are very reasonable. This place has been around for over 30 years and has a real following and there are some characters that just keep showing up from time to time that you should not miss. A fun time every time I've been there. The deck has been completely rebuilt and I'm told there will be outside seating in the future, as well as live music and poker.

This is hideout number one for those of us who would rather not be found. No one would think to look for you here except maybe your friends.

What do you think?
