Sitar has switched chefs recently, and they are expanding the lunch buffet repertoire. Recent choices included chilled lemon rice, minced lamb with peas, and some South Indian spices in the standards. They've dropped Monday and Tuesday prices to $4.99 for the buffet, too.

I'm curious: how long it has been since you went to Sitar? I don't think there has been a male proprietor there in more than 18 months. The Nepalese woman who is the current manager/part-owner speaks English very well and is very service oriented.

I go for the lunch buffet frequently, and there are usually at least three meats, three vegetable dishes, naan and dessert every day. The buffet food is solid (mostly North) Indian fare -- tandoori chicken, curries, chicken makhani. The menu, which is also available at lunch, is fairly deep.

And I've also got to ask, what's more embarrassing ... having someone challenge your use of a coupon in front of your clients, or using the coupon for your clients' $8.99 buffet lunch in the first place?

Not good, though neat looking place.

Not a soul greeted us upon our entering. We sat down for lunch, no one came. We proceeded to the lunch buffet---very disappointing....just a few dishes/offerings. We couldn't believe such a small buffet.
The taste was acceptable, though nothing impressive.

Though never greeted--and certainly not thanked for coming--we did finally see a couple of women who worked there---tried to communicate with one of them...who did not speak English (and I doubt they were from India)....so every time we had a question or needed help, she had to go into the back.

I had a coupon: the proprietor debated (possibly too strong a term) with me about how it could be used, in spite of the coupon's plain representation. Oh---and he did this right in front of my clients!

The whole experience gave us that feeling that this place was running out of help, money and the will to go on.
