4/5Ok, here's my NYE review of Steel:
I live right up the street and really didn't want to deal with a taxi and absolutely refused to drive anywhere so Steel came to mind.
I invited a date and made reservations- totally booked so I took two seats for 9:30 at the sushi bar which is where I'd rather sit anyway.
Got to the door and there was a considerable line so I automatically figured we were out or would be told to wait but not at all! We were brought directly to the bar, seated and drink orders were taken right away.
Good start and it only got better. Attentive, good humored and prompt service. I was quite surprised at how smoothly and to order everything came out do to the fact it was standing room only- the place was packed.
We ordered from the sushi menu and were very pleased with all we ordered. Love the eel!! Also can't go wrong with the Blanco martini.
Thanks to manager Andrew and staff for pulling off a great NYE dinning experience.
Kudos.

4/5For a place that really only exists to be trendy they had some decent food. I think the fusion menu worked pretty well for them as we had a good time the couple of times we went.
The sushi was okay, good, not great. Dinner adds up pretty fast and it gets expensive, but overall can be a fun place. Definately a "scene", saw one of the Mavs last time we were there.

Other than atmosphere, TAKE IT TO BLUE FISH.

We thought it was full boobs at your chair and "Busting Shirts" at the tables.

DC: What part of "all too full of themselves boobs" and "BS at the tables" didn't you get?
I also hinted to keep it simple by just getting a roll and martini at the bar.
Trust me next time. :)

2/5As far as the "pretty" people comments go, if you wake up at Steel, you probably won't somehow think you're in Miami or New York.
Whatever. The valet guy takes his turn on the drivetrain. Of course the table isn't ready, so they shovel us into the bar.
Presumably, this is a sushi bar. Place an order of chop chop. The guy behind the bar has no idea what that is. You know, hotate? No clue. The server tries to describe it - scallop, really? It somes with some huge roe on it.
Finally wedged into a too small table. It's important to hear how important everyone else is around you apparently.
A few dishes come and go. Poke is swimming in sauce. A little gross. Lobster is nicely done with sea salt. However, the server tries to sell me on an "exotic, exclusive to Steel asian garlic spice sauce." It's sriracha.
The sea bass is really a nice dish, and it should be considering how many years it's been on the menus around town. She orders mashed instead of baked potato. No one mentions it's an extra 3 dollars until the bill comes. It's worth commenting that all that's on the 28 dollar plate is fish, potato and carrot greens.
Drinks are ok, if a little slow.
It's getting late, and our server asks us to settle up his tab. I guess there are better things to do than work. It's the fastest anyone moved all night. It's also called how to work one's self out of a decent tip.
Go, drink, wear as little as possible, and mention as frequently as possible words like margin, Benz or huge settlement and you'll be fine!

3/5Well..as so many places in Dallas you have to fight the "pretty" crowd to get to the food. These all too full of themselves boobs will constantly bump your chair as they parade the room. I thought I'd have to bitch slap somebody....
Go for the bar and be served by the bartender and sushi chefs rather than the BS at the tables.
Just give me a Texas roll and a cranberry martini.
