Bummer. This was a pretty cool place, sort of took you back in time, like an old dinner theater. Probably a little too high concept for Grapevine. This is the second business to fail in that site.

I disagree with Gchaggaris. I was in for the first time with some girlfriends and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. One of my co-workers actually talked me into going. She had heard from a couple other people that it was great food and a lot of fun and no cover for the live band! My favorite entree is the Salmon!! Our dinner was delicious and pretty inexpensive compared to those big steakhouses. I believe the quality was right up there with Kirby's, JRs and Truluck's. We ended up staying for cocktails and the live band that started around 9. The band played mostly blues and jazz. They were excellent and created an exciting ambiance that we just didn't want to leave. The owner, Jeremy Allen, let us know that the lounge would be opening at 10 and it would have dance music pumping as well. So we hung out and slipped over to the lounge for a while. What a great idea! We danced all night long. When we would get tired and needed to rest our feet, we would head back over to the restaurant side and listen to the band and people-watch and then head back over to the lounge for more dancing! Service was great! The bar is fully stocked with everything we could imagine- my friends are very eclectic drinkers and like the more rare blends- which they had!! I highly recommend Tin Spirits to everyone I talk to now!! It's a great find!!

We went to Tin Spirits for the first time a few weekends ago. My husband and I brought another couple with us, who had come to visit from out of town. I had heard good things about the place from a coworker, and made reservations with the exceptionally pleasant hostess a few days before. Anyways, we drove up to the restaurant, which on the outside is a set of corrugated tin buildings. Once inside, we were almost shocked by the contrast between the interior and exterior. For all the plainness on the outside, the interior is lavishly decorated, crystal chandeliers were hanging throughout…I felt like I was in old time Chicago…very nice. We eventually made our way to our table, and ordered up some great grub from the server, who meticulously maintained our food and drink. We shared the Chili Rubbed Shrimp (spicy, but not too much), and the Crab Cakes (almost all crab meat). After salads, we dove into our entrees. I tried the Shrimp and Goat Cheese Grits, per our server’s recommendation, and loved it. That is their signature dish. My husband had the filet, and said he enjoyed it even more than the filet he had at Kirby’s a while back! We never did get to dessert, due to the huge portion sizes (bring your appetite!), but did manage to down a few cocktails during the evening. Their bar was very well stocked, and our drinks tasted good. We perused their wine menu, expecting them to have only a few wines by the glass, but they had about 25 or 30 available. The band was very entertaining, and we ended up staying until 1:00 am, just to watch them. They won D Magazine’s best of award this year for entertainment, and rightly so. I highly recommend this place, and will be going back next time I want to impress the people I am with.

Tin Spirits is a hidden treasure that everyone has to go and try! in Grapevine I was absolutely amazed by the food, service, entertainment and the bar has everything you can imagine. The menu had many platters to choose of; from appetizers like crab cakes or fried alligator tail, to main courses of Shrimp and Grits to Filets, to Fish of the Day Specials. My meal was phenomenal! The owner, Jeremy Allen, told me that the menu would be revamped and made larger very soon. The restaurant owners took over the existing restaurant in February and have done a phenomenal job of proper management and improving the restaurant/ venue. The atmosphere is beautiful and fun. The decor is romantic with dark blues and blacks filtrating the walls and beautiful crystal chandeliers sparkling all throughout. There is blues and jazz music softly piped through the restaurant for dinner between 4pm and 9pm. Everynight at 9pm there is a live blues/jazz band set up for the entertainment crowd! I happened to go on a Friday and discovered that there is also a lounge open each Friday and Saturday night with a DJ playing dance music from 10pm to 2am. We absolutely had a blast. The service was absolutely wonderful and I give this restaurant/bar 5 stars all around.

We had never been to Tin Spirits before but we like J. B. Clark and wanted to see him perform. Although I liked the "Deep Ellum" atmosphere very much, this place missed the mark in almost every other category. The meals we ordered were very creative but just not well prepared (one salad had way too much dressing and the other almost none, one entree came out cold and the sauce was watery and the bread was only supermarket quality). The service was very friendly but somewhat inattentive and lacked the professionalism you would normally find in this price range (you had to ask for bread, pepper and finally the bill, but they did bring them with a smile). In the final analysis, when your average charge for dinner and drinks for two is $100 plus, you are competing with other area restaurants the caliber of Kirby’s, J.R.'s, Truluck's and Brio’s. I know that current ownership of Tin Spirits is new and I hope things will improve for them in the future, but at this point they just can’t measure up to the competition.
