I'm thrilled that Tolbert's has reopened its doors in Grapevine, ending the anomoly of not having a true chili place in the largest metropolitan area in the entire state of Texas. Tolbert's has a very nice, retro-Western-chic buildout that fits in nicely with its Main Street Grapevine locale. But the highlight is chili, and for those of us who crave it, it certainly fits the bill. The frito pie is quite good as well. My one critique is that I wish the chili were a bit spicier, or if options to order it spicier were more apparent on the menu.

1/5Food wasn't that great. Thin piece of meat passed off as filet mignon cost just as much as a feast at the Outback! Drinks were not made as ordered. Chili was nothing to write home about, so I didn't. The service was great, if not overly obnoxious, but the kids loved it.

4/5Love Tolberts! The area and feel is probably what I like the most. Historic Main Street in Grapevine just makes North Texas feel like it actually has some history. They are most famous for their Chili, which I think is fine, and they have some other well known Texas fare, and I maybe be really strange on this one, but they actually have the best nachos that I have ever had.

I recall the first Tolberts I went to in 1976 over on Main street across from El Centro, While it was torn down years ago.. and the chili was hot and dangerous, ate the shoe polish off my boots and then again they have branched out to Grapevine Texas, good luck Frank, Ann and Cathline...
