The theme of this place is fun. Good burgers but not fabulous. Go and try it.

I visited this place this past weekend. I had the mushroom swiss burger and it was pretty good. My only complaint was for the pool of grease from the meat patty that was in my food basket. I got the sweet potato chips and I would like them better without the added sugar coating. I did like being Bill Cosby (a name instead of a number) for a few minutes. I have heard that they are opening one of these in Richardson, so I'll definitely visit this place more when it is closer to home.

Best burger in Dallas!

Jason and the staff are always friendly and they run a great place. I wish them great success with Twisted Root. I won't be surprised when there are about 20 location in D/FW.

The burgers are huge. The variety and quality of toppings are second to none. The guacamole, the bleu cheese, the sauces are all great! The burgers are always cooked exactly as ordered.

Skin-on fries and sweet potato chips are excellent. Have the fries with the ancho-chipotle ketchup. Try the homemade pickels.

Finish it all off with a roasted strawberry shake. Then take a nap.

Twisted Root makes a dang decent burger, especially of the turkey variety. Id like them to keep later hours on weeknights and weekends because some of us ellumites dont rise until 3pm on a saturday or sunday :)

I appreciate what is going on with this place. It is just not quite on the mark entirely. Take the street parking unless you feel like removing your car's belly pan as you leave the side entrance.

The woman who makes goat cheese at Chateau Fromage up the street apparently can't get enough of the place.

Line up to place your order cafeteria style. The menu is a little difficult for placement over the order station, but other options await.

Buffalo, Turkey burgers, curly and vegetable sides await.

We take a seat outside. The patio is a mosaic of cracked concrete making the too thin metal tables and chairs less than stable. Also, the view along the fire escape and what appears to be a grease trap could stand a little update or at least hosing off.

To take your mind of bussing your own table, they call out a "fun" cariacture name for your order. No Hannibals, apparently.

Turkey is slippery. This can be overcome. It's possible the curly fries are from a local small food vendor, but if that's so they need a little refinement to seperate themselves from the McCain's variety. Buffalo is just too easy to overcook, especially after it's been frozen. Unfortunately mine didn't look quite as succelent on the banner ads.

Location and concept look pretty good. Food not bad, but could be great. Don't stop now.

Twisted Root Burger is my new Sunday lunch spot. I've called in a pickup order on 3 consecutive Sundays, and I won't stop going until my doctor forces me to increase my dosage of Vytorin (And even then, I'll probably still go.)

Here's what I get for my Sunday serving...

  • 1/2 pound (Where's the full pound Jason?) black angus cheeseburger (With pepperjack cheese), grilled onions and bacon.
  • An order of curly fries (I still need to try the sweet potato chips, which is their signature side item)
  • And a cup of each of their signature sauces... chipotle ketchup, bbq sauce, and this spicy mustard that kicks like none-other. Today, my fat ass actually spoon fed myself what was left of the sauces after I polished off the food. (I have no shame.)

I'll wrap up this review by saying.... If Twisted Root Burger was a boy-band, and I liked boy-bands, I'd have posters of their foods all over my wall, buy tickets to all their shows, and send them creepy fan mail. ...Yup, I sure would. Twisted Root Burger IS THAT GOOD.
