West Dallas Community Center
The mission of West Dallas Community Centers is as follows: To help children and youth of West Dallas to develop dignity and self-respect, and to become adequate to meet life's encounters in a happy and reasonable manner.
It might also be stated as communication that they are worth-while human beings, that they are acceptable and productive; and to assist them in developing a positive identification of themselves.
In the process, new social skills and attitudes would be learned which would enable them to interact with others and develop a feeling of "belonging". A most important mission is to expand our assistance to youth in the areas of Drug Abuse Intervention, Drug Abuse Treatment and Literacy. Substance Abuse among adolescents of low-income minority status is a problem of growing proportion. It is at alarming levels which is of great community concern.
