"Wild About Harry's" is a gem in Dallas unlike any other place I can think of. Very unlike Dallas. And Harry himself is, one class act!

The last time I was there, a black homeless man who clearly was hearing voices began plowing through Harry's trashcan in front of his Knox shop. And while others were (pick one) scared, annoyed, disgusted, ...Harry asked him is he was hungry and went in and returned outside with a loaded hotdog in his hand and walked down the street after him to personally deliver it.

THAT's class of the old guard.

I really like the atmosphere of this place along with the very friendly employees. When I went...they let me try samples of their ice cream floats before ordering and even let you pick any flavors/combinations to create your own mix. They gave excellent ideas and suggestions for flavor combinations that weren't on the menu. This review is just pertaining to their frozen deserts, I have yet to try a dog.

What are y'all talking about? i may have never been to the one on Henderson, but i had been to the one on Campbell/Coit, by Richardson Bike Mart. Not impressed with the hot dogs. THAT's the place i was talking about!!The custard was good though. I just said that if i wanted a dog, I would go to Costco (Hebrew National Beef dogs), awesome!!

James and Travis are right. The Richardson location place was part of a trial to expand the concept and multiply stores with a restaurant developer. I lived near there when it was open. My roommates and I loved it. I would go out and they would give me orders and I would pick it up.

In the end, I was told there were "differences" between Harry and the partner. I would suspect that played some part in any issues.

David - Kind of unfair to review a restaurant you've never been to - especially the vibe and service, which are very particular to a specific location.

i've never been to the harry's on Henderson. I just remember this one, that didn't stay open too long. The store had everything in it, just didn't open for bidness. We only went there once, for a dog and drink. Almost $5 each!!!!! Two dogs/drinks at Costco, $3.00+tax

David, is your review of the original Harry's on Henderson, or is that just some vague recollection? Harry's is a great place to take the kids and the people are always very nice....

My wife had a dancewear store when Wild About Harry's had a shop in Campbell/Coit in Richardson. They seemed very busy, but it seemed their internal issues, outweighed the quality of the food. I prefer Costco hotdogs/drink....$1.50! Can't beat that!! Just my opinion....

Harrys is ok for the custard, the hot dogs are not that much to write home about...

I don't see what all the rave is about...I drove in from Forney to check it out and came away VERY disappointed. Harry's is the exact opposite of Culver's in Rockwall where we go to get our custard. I believe we'll stick to Culver's for many reasons.

@ Travis: The neon green stuff? That's what makes it feel like home to me.

The nicest thing about this place is Harry. You will often find him there chatting with customers. Oh and my kids love the joint. I think it is the strange looking relish, but I could be wrong.

This ex-Chicagoan thanks Harry for serving the finest Vienna Beef hot dogs. Not to be missed.

The custard's pretty good too. :)

Had my first Harry's this past weekend and have to say that even though they didn't have my "trip around the world" dog, they did make a good stab at it. Very tasty!!! Love the poppy seed buns....nice touch!

I am used to putting EVERYTHING on my dog.... even to the point of making people at the ballpark gasp at the heaping mound of delicious on it's way to my seat. (Put gag instead of gasp if you wish.)

And I must comment on the famous Harry's family custard shake: the chocolate tastes exactly like Blue Bell original chocolate. Freakin' fantastic!

Harry's gets a two thumbs up and a trip around the world from me.

PS. LOVE the slamming screen door on the place...adds a touch of down home.
