(Blushing at your paradigm shift): One class of stories we tend to miss/skip is the speculative "X group hopes to do Y." There's so much of that, we couldn't hope to keep up and would rather spend our resources on things actually happening.

Not that we have a ban on them-- if they're interesting enough, we may hop on. In this case, while I wish them the best, I'm way skeptical.

Dallas Mardi Gras Hopes to Draw 100,000

Did this story get picked up anywhere on The Peg (new official slang?... hope not)? I didn't notice it coming through on the wire and couldn't find it through search.

Interesting paradigm shift for me - after seeing this on cbs11 news site, I immediately thought to come here to check the validity of the article, plus check the quick pulse of the community. I would have all but written off the article given that I didn't find it here, but it seems to interesting to pass up...

West Fest Polka Festival Westfest kicks off the weekend Friday evening with the Miss Westfest Contest. Gates to the fairground (in West, Texas, south on I-35 just beyond Hillsboro) open at 5:30 p.m., and you can hang out touring the food booths until the 12:30 a.m. closing. If there was ever a place to do your "wurst," this is it. And don't forget kolaches for dessert. More info
