The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info

Another branch of Cowboy Chicken will be opening soon on W. Park, just west of the Tollway in Plano. They've got a sign up.

I went here twice. The food seemed bland, kind of like how I think the food at Boston’s Market tastes. Nothing really exciting here, especially given the number of places to eat along this area of Preston.
One my first trip, I was eating my chicken and noticed something odd. Turns out they scrub their chickens down with a wire-like brush prior to being cooked. One of the pieces of wire brush made it into my chicken. Suffice to say, that kind of grossed me out. My second and final trip was to redeem my free entrée coupon that they gave me as some sort of reparations payment. When I worked in this area, I never heard anyone trying to round up people to head over to this place. And it was right across the street from a building that housed 1,000 employees.

I was at this strip mall for another reason, and I saw chickens roasting in a window. I had to try it out.
The value of this restaurant increases with the size of the order. For example, a platter with a quarter of a chicken (breast wing) is $5.99. A half a chicken is $6.99 (leg thigh breast wing). I opted for half a chicken.
It came with two sides, I had the twice baked potatoes, and the fried okra.
The chicken was tender, juicy, and well flavored. Half a chicken was more than I should have eaten, but it was very good.
The twice-baked potatoes were filled with butter and cheese, a bit rich but also good.
The okra was OK, but not like grandma used to make.
Overall, I was impressed. Next time, I'll go ahead and order a whole chicken family pack, the best value, and take the leftovers home.

The Chicken Enchiladas are from heaven, I know that sounds extreme. But just taste them. I bet Gabrielle is mixing up the cream sauce as we speak. I can't make myself try any entree but the enchiladas, but the twice baked potatoes were delicious. The only problem with the little restaurant is that it is cold and has no decor.
