Bijoux was named to Bon Appetit's list of the "Ten Hottest New Restaurants in America," released in the June 2007 issue. The magazine said that, "the precise cooking at Bijoux has captivated Dallas diners," and that "desserts are so stylish that they merit a catwalk," singling out the "trio of pumpkin sweets with a creamy pumpkin custard sculpted into a smooth dome and perched atop a round of spicy cake with Japanese pumpkin-praline ice cream alongside."

Bijoux was named "Best New Restaurant of 2006" by the Dallas Morning News, "Restaurant of the Year" by CitySearch, and made Texas Monthly's Top 10 list for 2006. The restaurant is owned by chef Scott Gottlich and his sommelier wife Gina; Gottlich previously worked at Aubergine in California, Le Bernardin in New York, and at Lola and Toulouse Café in Dallas.

i hear what your saying, but we didnt see that note on the menu. Also, it was more of the rudeness of the staff that really got us so angered. I am sure the food is great, but with all of the other options here in town that are the same price or less, same quality & I get treated properly, it leaves me not ever wanting to go there again. The situation was totally mishandled.

I think the menu clearly says the tasting menu is only available for an entire table. The three- and five-course prix fixe meals are more like a la carte menus of limited scope.

Any reason why you didn't accept that rule and simply order three eight-course meals? Your guest could have just left the extra three courses if he or she thought it was too much food. (The price differential is, what, $30?)

My date wanted the 8 course, our guest wanted the 5 course and I wanted the 8 course. The servers flat out told us "no, we don't do that". I travel the world eating at prix fixe restaurants that are much higher level than Bijoux and have NEVER run into that situation. I won't be back.

What kind of "inflexible rules" are you talking about, Blackcrowe?

Had a horrible experience there. We walked out before we even ate one thing. Rude, bumbling service and inflexible "rules". Room reminds me of the dining hall in an old folks home. For the prices charged, I would prefer to eat at a restaurant that will cater to the guest rather than strict rules of the gestapo -like chef.

Ghostland Observatory Yes, they play here a lot because they are from Austin. No, that doesn't mean you can't see them again. Of course they will be back, but is that any excuse to not check out what some call the best live act this side of I-10? Didn't think so. "image by: Dániel Perlaky" '06 More info
