Two Highland Park Middle School girls found with pot

Last Friday, two Highland Park Middle School seventh-graders were caught with a marijuana cigarette, aka a doobie, joint, or magic dragon.

The girls, 12 and 13 years old, were left to their parents' punishment as the police did not file charges as too little of the doobie was left for evidence.

Park Cities People quotes University Park Police Chief Gary Adams as saying the incident is “a slap in the face of our D.A.R.E. program.”

Police are looking into the origin of the marijuana. Evidence currently points to a genus of flowering plants known as "cannabis."

George Bernard Shaw once remarked on how youth was wasted on the young. Unfortunately, so are all the good drugs.

“This is a slap in the face of our D.A.R.E. program,” Adams said. “We’re spending thousands of dollars trying to teach kids to not do things like this, and then it happens at the middle school where we teach it. The police department is upset that this happened right under our noses.”

--Thank you officer for realizing that. It's just been going on under your noses for the past few decades. Like the thousands of mature marijuana plants found last year behind the DEA's Dallas Headquarters, too bad you only get to see what you can arrest.
