Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez had a high-profile win in the Democratic primary Tuesday, while her potential Republican opponent is yet to be determined as Lowell Cannaday will likely face a runoff against former sheriff Jim Bowles.

* The majority of incumbent state legislators were winning their races, although some look to be heading toward a runoff, including one in District 112 between Angie Chen Button and Randy Dunning.
* Collin County commissioner Howard Jaynes defeated Corbett Howard in the Republican primary, and will now face off against Democrat Victor Manuel, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary.
* The Denton County commission race between Cynthia White and Hugh Coleman was too close to call, while several Republican Denton County constables were able to hold off their challengers.
