Annual Crescent Spring Celebration 2008 coming to Rosewood Crescent Hotel on April 17

DALLAS — The Rosewood Crescent Hotel is partnering with retailers and restaurants in The Crescent Complex to present the second annual Crescent Spring Celebration on Thursday, April 17, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will take place in The Crescent Courtyard and benefits Big Thought, a non-profit learning partnership that inspires, empowers and unites children and communities through education, arts and culture.

The celebration will feature food, wine, art, entertainment and fun including:

Fashions by Stanley Korshak, art exhibit, food and wine tastings, mini-spa experiences, cookoffs, live music from Max Vontaine and Emerald City, and a silent auction featuring such items as trips to Rosewood properties in California and the Caribbean, works of art, and -- get this -- a Labrador Retriever puppy. Does anyone else think it's kind of weird and possibly a bit inhumane that they are auctioning off a puppy?

Guests can sample culinary treats from Rosewood Crescent Hotel's award-winning culinary team, as well as Nobu Dallas, Palomino, and Capital Grille at chef stations positioned throughout the courtyard. Joining the Crescent-based chefs are chefs from other Rosewood property restaurants, including Chef Luca Rutigliano from CordeValle, A Rosewood Resort in San Martin, Calif., and Chef John Tesar from Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.

Auctioning a puppy. I suppose, after watching an episode of The Bachelor, I should not be surprised that dogs go to the highest public bidder. Is it Happy Hour yet?

PS while we’re gagging: Oprah has now announced that she is opposed to Puppy Mill breeders and 'will only adopt rescues in the future'. (She currently has 5 pedigreed hounds having just buried her 6th Sophie to whom she dedicates her show on Friday). Her guest in Friday 4th, Lisa Ling (formerly of The View) has an expose documentary short about the breeding business of American dogs and this has made Oprah (duh) see the light. Whatever it takes. Whatever.....
